New to America

Being in America is much different than I was expecting. If I were basing my experience on what I have seen in movies, I would first note that there are a lot less car chases and shoot outs. Of course, I knew that this was a little not true. One thing that did surprise me, though, was the apartment space. In Moscow, my parents, my grandparents, and I all lived in a two bedroom apartment (I sleep in the living room as the youngest). Here, the living room of apartments is the size of our entire apartment in Moscow! I am very shocked that space isn't better used here. I am also a little surprised that there are even empty apartments to rent. In honesty, we have to wait until someone dies for an apartment to open up, and then usually the children of the deceased is waiting for it.

Other than much culture shock, things are OK so far. I think I might like it here. Hopefully no one shoots me before I get fully acclimated. (Just kidding!)Now I must find a job so that I will have money to do things in this city, like attend college functions and the like. Even as a physics major, I cannot just study all of the time, yes?

If you want to watch a movie that has a little more basis in American reality, you might want to start with the classics. Anything with Molly Ringwald in it, except for that one where she has AIDS and the teen movie ripoff one.

Actually, go ahead and watch the teen movie ripoff, because it has singing, which isn't all that unusual. At least, not to us.
You might want to consider asking Xander to talk to you about your relationship instead of casting a spell if he gets freaked out. Thanks to him, Willow, and Glory that year, I was a wreck.
Who is this Xander? Is he another witch? Why does he cast spells?
LOL Xander isn't a witch. He's my best friend/boyfriend. The spells were because he's insecure, but I'm trying to get him to stop that. The insecure thing, not the spells, I mean.
Ah, I think I understand.
What movies are these? I will get them as soon as possible.

I hope that I do not have to sing. I sound like banshee wails, and no one wants to hear that.
The Breakfast Club
Pretty in Pink
Sixteen Candles
Not Another Teen Movie (I had to look up the title)
I will get these movies as soon as I can.
Well, you probably could study all the time. When you're not slaying, I mean. I don't know. I guess it depends on what Buffy says. She's usually the one to decide on that kind of thing.
If left to my own devices, I would study all the time. I wish to become a physicist one day and discover something new for science.

Being here is a great opportunity, though. I want to use it for more than slaying and studying. Does that sound odd?
Not at all. In fact, I'm trying to figure out what more I should be doing.
What are you thinking of doing?
Well, I was an art history major. I guess I still am, but I haven't taken any more classes. I should.
You should take the classes if they interest you, yes.
